Kibale National Park, Chimpanzee Tracking

Kibale national park is very rich in diversity but is well known for its thirteen (13) species of primates especially the chimpanzees. It is referred to as the premier primate destination in the world.

It is home to the greatest variety of primates found anywhere in East Africa. Kibale national park is near the serene Ndali-Kasenda crater area and is approximately a 12 hour drive from the legendary Rwenzori Mountain, Toro-Semiliki national reserve as well as Queen Elizabeth national park.

The vegetation in Kibale national park ranges from evergreen rainforest to the arid tropical forest, the Savanna to the woodland, which supports a variety of habitats and this is a result of altitude difference. Kibale national park is bordered by Queen Elizabeth national park in the south which enables free movement of the wildlife. Kibale national park is located in western Uganda next to the exceptional town of Fort Portal.

This park has the loveliest tropical forest in Uganda and it is on 795 square kilometres of land. It was set up in 1995 to conserve the forest but chimpanzee trekking had become the leading tourist activity in Kibale national park over time. The park had 12 other primate species within it that can also be the highlight of your safari.
